Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow could end up as judges on rival shows

ROBBIE Williams is being lined up as a judge on new BBC singing reality show The Voice - in direct opposition to Gary Barlow.



The Beeb want Robbie, 37, to sign on the dotted line to make The Voice the biggest music show on telly.

But the move would pitch him against Take That bandmate Gary, 40, who is joining The X Factor. The pair famously fell out after the Angels singer left Take That, but made up after the band reformed last year.

An insider said: "They still have a healthy rivalry and this would kick in if they were on opposing shows."


Bosses also have their sights set on chart-topper Adele as well as former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue. A panel of big-name singers will judge wannabes by turning their backs during audtions so they focus on their voices.

The show has been a huge hit in the US, where Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine are on the panel.

A source for the BBC - which plans its show for next year - said: "Robbie would be great, particularly with his rivalry with Gary."

The Beeb's push comes as The X Factor has had to postpone its auditions after Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole left for the US version.

hmm maybe the voice would be more popular because its fresh. Unfortunately, The X Factor is getting a bit stale now, I just hope Gary doesn't go down with the ship....

Well, they say a bit of friendly competition never causes any harm – and it looks like Take That duo Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow might be about to put the notion to the test.
According to reports, the BBC have approached Robbie asking him to join the judging panel on their new talent show, The Voice. Which of course means the Robster will be going up against his co-star Gary Barlow who has already been lined up as an X Factor judge on ITV1.
The news comes just a week before the band are due to go on tour together and the friendly rivalry between the pair might just be what producers of both shows are looking for – you know, because obviously it’s going to be gauntlets at the ready when the boys head off in opposite directions to judge on two of the biggest programmes on telly. And that in turn will mean lots and lots of press coverage.
A blabbermouth BBC source revealed, "Robbie would be great, particularly with his rivalry with Gary." We see their thinking. Can you see their thinking? Not too obvious at all, eh? Well of course without a little banter, those two just wouldn’t be themselves! And we'll definitely be welcoming an increase in Take That time on TV.
The US version of The Voice has been labelled a huge hit in America and allowed Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine to be judging the talent – giving it tremendous credibility, something some people say The X Factor may have lost in recent years. And that means when the show arrives over here, it could end up even bigger than The X Factor is now!
But you know, we’ve actually thought of an even more splendid idea. How about we stick ol’ Rob on the X Factor panel with Gazza B? Now that would make the the new-look show more exciting. Imagine what would happen when it got to the live finals… There’ll be 20 years worth of sparks flying everywhere. Now that we’d like to see!
Oh go on Simon Cowell, please make this happen.
